Love & Care
“We don’t have hopes for the future. I sometimes regret coming to Lebanon and I wish we could just go back, but it is impossible. We often feel unloved and unwelcome. Sometimes we hear people curse at us or call us because we are Syrians. But in this center (Balassan) we feel so much love and care! We are so thankful for the wonderful treatment we receive here.”
Prayer
Our pediatrician was doing a routine health examine on a young Sudanese girl with a persistent cough that was not going away with rest/medication and noticed something not right with her lung. She ordered a chest x-ray to confirm her suspicions and a large cyst was discovered from a very rare bacteria. Her case quickly deteriorated as we rushed to research more on her case, secure the right doctors, and get her the surgery she needed. She had less than 50% chance of survival. We all were praying day and night. Her surgery was a success and she and her family are grateful to Balassan and we thank God for the miracle He performed in her life.
Physical Therapy
“S” was told that she would require a costly lumbar surgery that she was unable to afford if she would ever be able to continue her job and provide for her family. After several sessions of physical therapy, she is now able to work at home and at her job with pain at a manageable level and knowledge of how to maintain her chronic back
condition without surgery.
Peace
“R” struggles with a chronic autoimmune disease causing chronic pain and a dependence on medicine she struggles to afford. She has benefitted from sessions with our physical therapist and psychologist as well as financial support for a percentage of her medication, and said recently, “Balassan is the one place I feel at peace in this country.”
